All properties are better off with as many varieties or variations of fruit trees that the property owner can plant. Once established to maturity they become a free source of food for years to come. A property full of fruit trees has a much higher property value. Planting fruit trees creates a safe refuge for wildlife that in turn creates a necessary ecological balance to our homes. Tree planting helps the environment by absorbing c02 emissions, yet green house gas from the atmosphere to then get converted into fresh clean oxygen for us to breathe.

Apple trees

My most favorite fruit tree is the Apple Tree“. In the United States we have about 2,500 varieties of apple trees. While 7,500 varieties are grown throughout the world. The most well-known apple variety is the Red Delicious, that was first introduced in Iowa in the year 1880. Rummer has it that Gala may soon take hold for the number one most popular apple, while Ganny Smith is noted to be in third place.

Other great apples worth mentioning are the Honey crisp Apple Tree ” target=” that originated in Minnesota and is known for being crunchy and sweet. Cripps pink came from Australia that is liked for its tart flavor. Ambrosia is from British Columbia that has a sweet resemblance similar to a pear. Smitten is cultivated in New Zealand which many express as a great snack. McIntosh apples are a good apple for baking juicing and eating. While Empire is my favorite to snack on that is a cross between McIntosh and Red Delicious with a wonderful blend of sweet and tart flavor.

Plum trees

A fruit tree that is great to add to your yard or garden is a Plum Tree“. There are about 200 different varieties of Plum trees growing around the world. Many plum trees originated in China, then became introduced to Japan before making their way to the United States. Most plum arrays come in a wide range of skin colors from purple to red or yellow that also commonly boast juicy red, purple,  or yellow flesh.

The most popular type of plum tree is the Santa Rosa Plum tree, that is known to produce sweet dark purple fruit. These fruits are excellent fresh while also great for making jams or jelly. Plums require full sunlight with sandy soil that drains well in order to thrive. They also like a soil pH that ranges from 5.5 to 6.5.

Pear trees

 Pear Trees” are another great tree that grow well in the northern hemisphere to add to your home garden or orchard. It is estimated that their are approximately 3,000 types of pear trees grown worldwide. The three most common varieties of pear trees are Asian, European, and hybrid. The ones that we usually buy at the store are European or probably the Bartlett Pear, that have a juicy sweet quality. Most Pear trees have a tear-dropped shaped fruit that are green then turning yellowish when ripe.

Pear trees belong to the Rosaceae family with the genus Pyrus. A few types of pear trees self-pollinate to yield a substantial harvest on their own while others require cross pollination from different cultivars that blossom together in order to produce the best harvest.

Cherry trees

Recorded horticulture documentation lists around 1,200 varieties of cherries through out the world while about 1,000 are grown here in the United States. Each type of  Cherry Trees Online” has its own unique color, appearance, and taste. I really like fresh cherries for their sweet, yet tart flavor. Cherries can be used to make pies or jams, however I like to take a hand full to snack, but be sure to be careful not to bite the pit plus spit it out.

Peach trees

Peach trees are classified into three groups which include clingstone, freestone and semi freestone that pertains to the way the fruits inner flesh clings or attaches to its pit. Clingstone peaches have flesh that attach securely to its pit which is the best peach for eating as a snack because they have a high sugar content, yet they are very juicy. Freestone peaches have pits that remove easily from its flesh, with less juiciness and sugar content. These peaches are great for baking. Semi-freestone peaches are a hybrid of both clingstone and freestone varieties where the fruits flesh does not cling to the pit, but has a high sugar content that is very juicy.

The most common types of orange trees found is the sweet orange that is a cultivated hybrid that will not be found in the wild. Other common oranges include Valencia, Hart’s Tardiff Valencia, and the Hamlin. Then their is blood or pigmented orange that contain large amounts of anthocyanins that give the fruit its deep red hue. They include the Maltese, Moro, Sanguinelli, Scarlett Navel, and Tarocco. Lastly we have Naval oranges that are the most common orange sold at the grocery store. They include, Cara cara, Bahia, Dream navel, Late Navel, and Washington or California Navel.

Conclusion

Fruit trees are a great addition to any home, garden, yard, or orchard. They come in many shapes, colors, sizes, and varieties that each have their unique sweet, or tart taste that are both nutritious, yet healthy, I am personally a huge fan of all fruit trees. I do not think I know of a ripe fruit that I would not consume at this is very instance.
